Since I am fast approaching the age of 65 I have started checking into medicare to see what it covers and checking into supplement insurance to cover what medicare does not cover. I do believe that there is going to be non-covered charges that little old me is going to be responsible for.
Medicare has plan A,B,C and D....it is my understanding that they give you plan A, but B will cost you $90.00+ per month. Even if you have plan A & B you need to have a supplement policy to take care of things that A & B does not pay. Now the supplement companies have plan A,B,C,D,E,F,F1,G,H,I,J and J1 it depends on how much you want to pay out of pocket as which one of these you go with. You can opt not to take plan B from medicare and go with C which is really a policy that is a gamble as to where they will pay any of it or not. After you make all of the above decisions you need to decide what you are going to do about plan D (I think D stands for drugs)....I really have not got around to studying this plan yet.
I still have about three months before I really have to make a decision, but the truth be known I should have started studying this about 10 years ago and then I might have been able to make an intelligent choice sometime soon.
